Adding Paper - Proper Way To Add Paper In The Photocopier

Before you go on skipping this tip, answer this question for me: What is the number one cause of constant paper jams in the copier? Putting the paper wrong, or being careless about it. I know you are always in a rush to get things done but guess what, you have to start your car before you drive it. You also have to put your clothes on, no matter how crazy you are, before you go outside. I see people stack new paper on top of paper that was already there. Now, this is not a problem assuming you do it right. They have a large copy job and do not want to copier to stop in the middle asking for paper. This is what usually happens. While stacking that couple of reams on top, the paper beneath gets bent, skewed, folded, or is hanging along the side or in front of the paper tray. The first 100 copies may pie fine but when is starts to get to the old paper, you will be screaming and moaning how much the copier stinks, and how bad service is when was really your fault that the copier is jamming. Since we can't always be there to make sure that the paper is put in right, here are the few tips to make sure it is done right all the time: 1- if adding paper, it is best to fan the paper in order to remove some of the paper dust, and to loosen it up a little. 2- I would recommend removing the old paper and put it on top; not that paper expires, but I feel that the paper gets damp when it sits there too long. But that is just my thinking. 3- never put letter size paper in a legal drawer 4- always adjusts the paper guides accordingly when putting paper in the Universal paper tray. 5- if you have a big office, or a small office, assign the paper and toner replacement task to one or two persons; as they say in English, practice makes perfect.
