Placing A Copier Service Call? Save Some Sample Copies...

Copier Repair Tips > Copier Troubleshooting and Repair Tips > Copier Service Tips

This very important - If you are having jamming or copy quality issues with your copier sporadically and you think it's time to place a service call to your local copier service department, then there is something very important you have to do:

Save some sample copies to show to the copier technician!

Really...

Keep all the bad copies next to the copy machine and show them to the copier technician when he arrives.

I cannot tell you how many times I walk into a customer's office and they will tell me:

"Oh... The copier is making bad copies... Fix it..."

Honestly, that doesn't tell me anything about the issue you are having especially if it's something that only happens once in a while.

We are not magicians... We are technicians...

I am not trying to be mean... LOL... We are able to fix your copier quickly and efficiently because, in many cases, it is a simple problem that require a specific part or better yet, a quick adjustment.

Would you believe that, with just one look at a sample of the bad copies, the copier technician can tell immediately what is wrong with the copier?

One look and he will tell you:

"OK... It's the synch clutch, it's slipping... I have a new one in the car! I'll have you up and running in 10 minutes!"

Wouldn't you like that?

It's funny... Often, when I asked the customer "do you have any sample of the bad copies you were getting?"  Many times their reply "No... I threw them away"

If we're lucky, we get to dig in the trash can... under the wet coffee grinds and all the McDonald's ketchup... and we will find the sample... unless the custodian already emptied out the trash!

Oh you never knew why Mr. Copier man was digging in your trash?

Now you know!

Please... Keep sample of the bad copies when you call for service.
